What it does well
- Answers the same question for the four hundredth time. Prices, hours, areas covered, whether you do that specific thing. Instantly, at any hour.
- Captures a lead after hours. The enquiry at 22:40 gets a real answer and leaves a phone number, instead of bouncing to whoever replies first tomorrow.
- Qualifies before you spend time. It can ask the two questions you always ask, area and budget, so you open your phone to a filtered list.
- Books appointments. Straight into a calendar, with a confirmation, no back and forth.
- Works everywhere at once. Website, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram messages, giving the same answers in each.
What it does badly, or not at all
- Closing a deal. It does not build trust, negotiate, or read a room. It hands you a warm lead, that is where its job ends.
- Knowing things you never told it. If your prices are not written down anywhere, the agent cannot quote. Garbage in, silence out, if you build it properly.
- Handling an upset customer. Complaints should go to a human within seconds. Any agent worth having is told to hand over the moment the tone changes.
- Fixing a business that does not answer. If leads currently die because nobody follows up, an AI agent just collects them faster into the same dead end.
The rule that matters most
The agent must be told what it does not know. An AI that invents a price to be helpful will cost you more than the enquiry was worth. Ours are built to say “I am not sure, let me get Chris to confirm that” and then capture the number. Boring, and correct.
Is it worth it for a small business?
Do the sum. Count the enquiries you get outside working hours in a month. Multiply by the share you would normally win, then by what a customer is worth. If that number is bigger than a few hundred rand a month, an AI agent pays for itself, and it keeps working over weekends and December.
